This website has been originally designed to present the work we have been conducting through the inter-ex project. This project was a European grant aided project (funded under the Interreg IIIA scheme) aiming at fostering collaboration between French Sports and Exercise Scientists from the University of Lille 2 and English Sports and Exercise Scientists from the University of Brighton.
The first phase of Project Inter-Ex has now come to a close, as the 2 year period covered by the Interreg III grant ended on August 31st. Some research projects are continuing into the autumn, and news of these will be updated over the coming few months.
The major energies of the team, UK and French, is now in working together on the next stage of the collaboration. We are hoping to submit a grant proposal to the new EU Inter-reg funding scheme (IV) in the New Year, so please come back to the site for latest updates.
"Its an appropriate moment to say a big thank you to all the Inter-Ex project staff on both sides of the channel. For me, as project leader, alongside achieving our research and dissemination outcomes, the grant has been rewarding on a human level - seeing two cultures with their different perspectives and ways of work / thinking, come together and learn from one another. I think it came home to me what we had achieved one day early this year - I walked into our research lab here in Eastbourne and in a rather surreal moment, it dawned on me that the excited chatter was in French, not English! Its testament to the success of this first phase that both sides are keen to explore further opportunities to collaborate. I, for one, hope we are successful."
