Last Steering Group meeting of inter-ex - April 07
The 4th April saw the final meeting of the Project Steering Committee. The main aim of the meeting was to plan the final few months of the project, in particular, to make sure we were on target with French and UK budgets. Thankfully, prior planning has meant that the project has really run smoothly and the final few months should manage themselves.
The meeting was held in Eastbourne, so Patrick, Serge, and Olivier made the journey over. They were accompanied by Yasmine – Olivier’s replacement when he starts his new life in the South of France (a quick thank you to Oliver for all his hard work these past 18 months, and a ‘bon chance’ for the future!). To celebrate their last trip in the UK under the inter-ex grant, Jeanne took them to a very traditionnal English pub where they were all desperate for Fish and Chips.....and a Guinness - they seem addicted since the first day they had it! The next day, prior to the meeting, all woke up early to have the time to walk around Eastbourne and Beachy Head. All were "impressed by the beauty of the surroundings.
We were also joined by a representative from Government Office South East – Richard Booth. Although an administrative regulation for at least one visit to the project management meetings, it was also a pleasure to have Richard join us: his comments and feedback were welcomed, particularly when discussion turned to the possibility of applying for another grant: the so called ‘Interreg IV’ scheme.
" I think it is a reflection of how well the grant project has progressed and functioned that both partners are keen to explore future work and maintain the collaboration. A successful application to the successor of Interreg III would enable this. We hope to continue the work we have started on using the concept in the ‘field’ setting, particularly where we see the CP concept being useful to prescribe exercise for health. Our intention is to discuss the way forward at a meeting after the French side’s symposium in June."
